For the May 2025 election, there is only one election, that to fill a vacancy in Ward 6 of the City of Salem. The filing deadline for running for Salem Ward 6 position is March 20.

Half the boards are up for election next in November 3, 2026. Filing for a city office must be done by August 23, 2026 to the City's Election Clerk of the given city (70 days before election date).

About Special District board terms and elections

ODD YEARS

In almost all special districts (school, fire, water, cemetary), elections are held for half the board members every two years, for four year terms.

Those elections occur in the "off years," the odd numbered years. Special district rules in oregon law

EVEN YEARS

The even numbered years, on the other hand, have the gubenatorial, senate, presidential house (both U.S. and state) position's elections, with the Primary in May and General in November. ORS 254.056 for dates

CROSSOVER DISTRICTS

Many districts cross over many precinct boundaries and even county borders.

But each residence will be in only one K-12 School District. Among other ways to find yours, check your property tax bill!

The county clerk from these districts with the most county voters is filing clerk for these races

Salem-Keizer School Board is predominantly in Marion County therefore, by law, it is controlled by the Marion County Clerk. Filing is done in that office.

For Willamina and Sheridan schools, candidates file with/are run by the Yamhill County Clerk.
